Sulwade Barrage of river Tapti shows variety of rich algal forms of various groups in its freshwater ecosystem. There is little information on Diatoms from this region. To fulfil the lacuna in this field, the present investigation was carried out by selecting Sulwade Barrage. In present study, the diatoms represented by the species of genera like Fragillaria, Synedra, Cyclotella, Cymbella, Calonis, Gyrosigma, Navicula, Gomphonema, Nitzschia and Pinnularia. Twenty one taxa belonging to ten genera were observed during October 2009 to January 2010. Species of Navicula, Gomphonema and Nitzschia were found abundantly. |
